Love him or hate him, but none can deny that economist and former finance minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, is perhaps the most distinguished prime minister India has ever had. Soft-spoken and with a cool head on his sturdy shoulders, Singh has, in his five years as PM, faced both applause and brickbats for some of the decisions he’s made.
A surprise pick for the PM’s post by Congress president Sonia Gandhi in 2004, this humble academician was thrust into political limelight and immediately hailed as the best man for the job. Congress’ opponents, however, have always derided him as a mere puppet in the hands of ‘Madam’. But, Singh has been instrumental in inking the crucial nuclear deal with the US, besides gaining the popular vote of the most ideal PM.
However, a lot has changed in the last four years, both political alliances as well as India’s stand on terrorism, especially after the heinous attack on Mumbai in November last, which caught the UPA government snoozing.
With the 2009 Lok Sabha elections having already commenced, Ganesha predicts whether India will again vote Singh back in office or opt for a new government that can bring lasting solutions to the country’s pressing problems.
Date of Birth: 26th September, 1932
Time of Birth: 1400 hours
Place of Birth: Jhelum (Pakistan)
Manmohan Singh’s birth chart
- From 16th May till 2nd June 2009, the period when the 15th Lok Sabha will convene, Manmohan Singh will be under the influence of Rahu Mahadasha – Sukra Antardsha – Rahu Prati Antardasha – Shani Sookshma Dasha. As per the cusp chart, Sukra is the Lord of his 10th House of career and authority as well as position.
- Between 16th May 2009 till 23rd May 2009, transiting Sukra will be exalted and in exact trine to its natal position. From 23rd May till 2nd June, it shall aspect its own house.
- Transiting Shani shall aspect the degrees of the 6th House of employment cusp, indicating continued employment, which means the PM may continue to serve the country.
- Sun, the significator of authority, will be in the 6th House under the aspect of transiting Shani and Rahu as well as trine to its natal position.
Keeping in mind the above astrological factors, Ganesha feels that Singh is set to retain his prime ministerial post in the 15th Lok Sabha. However, it cannot be said for sure whether he will serve the whole term, as indicated in my earlier article on the same site.
Wishing Manmohan Singh good luck and may Lord Ganesha bless him.
